Organic Chemistry Connections:

Visual, Research-Based, and Inclusive Examples

for Introductory Organic Classes.

Motivation

Visual cues can significantly impact students' sense of belonging in STEM disciplines. We looked to add more inclusive images into introductory organic chemistry classes by highlighting the work of MIT graduate students and undergraduate researchers.

Examples

Click below to access examples that can be used in any organic chemistry classroom. Each example is designed to take minimal class time and give students an opportunity to practice an organic chemistry skill in the context of an exciting research connection.

Get Involved

If you are an MIT graduate student or undergraduate researcher (UROP) in organic chemistry or a related field, we would love to feature you in an example!

TESTIMONIALS

"I really appreciated seeing how the small stepping stone concepts we were learning in class were still an important part of what real, current chemists do! Watching them use the basics as a part of amazing pharmaceutical and other research was very inspiring."
